Ghost Hunting Downtown Phoenix, Hotel San Carlos to the Orpheum

A Friday night walk between downtown Phoenix's haunted landmarks, with two stops where the ghost-hunting gear is in your hands.

Get Ghosted Phoenix runs this two-hour walk through central Phoenix on Friday nights, and it stays on the sidewalk. The operator is explicit that every stop is exterior: the guide tells each building's story from outside, and the group does not go in.

The equipment is what sets it apart from a plain storytelling walk. Guests use EMF detectors, spirit boxes and dowsing rods, and the operator builds two hands-on ghost hunts into the route. In between, the guide carries the history; a December 2025 review notes that "the iPad with photos added to the experience."

The company says it was founded in 2023 by Arizona native Nadine Economos, and it describes itself as locally owned.

The listing below books the Friday 7:00 PM departure. It sells one ticket type, priced per person, and guide gratuities are not included.

Seven Stops, All Seen From the Sidewalk

The operator's own tour page names seven stops in this order: Hotel San Carlos, the Security Building, the Westward Ho, the A.E. England Building, the Phoenix Masonic Temple, the former A.L. Moore & Sons Mortuary and the Orpheum Theatre. The walk starts across Central Avenue from Hotel San Carlos and finishes outside the Orpheum, a few blocks away, rather than back at the start.

The stops in between can change. The operator's booking system lists a First Baptist Church and an "Adams Street Morgue" among the stops the tour "may include," and the itinerary on the listing includes a former church turned event space. The operator's page and its booking system both put Hotel San Carlos first and the Orpheum last.

The operator puts the walking at about one mile. The listing's safety note describes a relaxed pace with frequent stops, on sidewalks, with street crossings and some standing.

Two Stops Where the Gear Comes Out

Guests handle the equipment themselves: an EMF detector, a spirit box and dowsing rods, and the operator says its guides show how to use each one. The hands-on ghost hunts happen at two of the seven stops. The rest of the route is history told in front of each building.

Results are not promised. The operator states that paranormal activity is not guaranteed, and guests' accounts vary. One April 2026 review reports "activity at both stops where we used the ghost equipment"; a January 2026 review calls the night "a great combination of history and ghost hunting."

Photos are welcome. The operator encourages guests to take them throughout the tour.

Ages 8 and Up, and Wheelchair Accessible Throughout

The listing sells one ticket type covering ages 5 to 99, but the operator sets the minimum age for this tour at 8, on both its tour page and its FAQ. Book only children 8 and older; the operator requires guests to meet each tour's minimum age. Whether an eligible child is ready for the spooky content is left to parents.

On mobility the two sources agree. The operator lists this tour as fully wheelchair accessible, and the listing marks the route, its surfaces and nearby transportation as wheelchair accessible. The listing also asks for at least a moderate fitness level and marks the tour as not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health; the operator's own pages say neither.

One solo traveler wrote that "the way the tour is set up I did not feel left out."

One Departure a Week, Friday at 7:00 PM

The listing and the operator agree on the schedule: Friday nights at 7:00 PM. As of October 21, 2026, the listing showed that departure open on every Friday sampled from October 23 through March 5, 2027. For Halloween 2026 that means Friday, October 23 or Friday, October 30; the operator's Halloween schedule does not run this tour on Saturday, October 31.

The listing gives a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the start, and no refund after that. The operator says weather calls are generally made around 5:00 PM on tour day. Gratuities are not included; the operator suggests 15 to 20 percent of the tour price per person.

📍 Meet in front of the former Chase Tower at 201 N. Central Avenue, directly across the street from Hotel San Carlos. Arrive 15 minutes before 7:00 PM: check-in is when the equipment is handed out. Look for a guide in a Get Ghosted Phoenix shirt with "Future Ghost" on the back. The pin on this page marks the Orpheum Theatre at 203 W. Adams Street, where the walk ends.

The operator names street parking near Hotel San Carlos as the most convenient choice when spaces are free, lists the Chase Tower Garage at 201 N. 1st Street, and warns that garages can charge up to 40 dollars on special-event nights. The closest light rail stop, by the operator's account, is Van Buren/Central Ave.

Bring water and dress for an evening outdoors. The last story of the night is told outside the Orpheum, the grand historic theater on Adams Street.
