Before opening as a standalone restaurant, Gharer Khabar began when founders Nasima “Rumpa” Shahreen and Ashraful “Raja” Siddique started providing Bengali dishes to a family with a newborn in a time of need. Word of mouth grew that informal support into their own dining room, where head chef Rumpa anchors the kitchen around the motto of “homemade food with affection, with love.”
