Description

Originally constructed between 1895 and 1897 as the Capital Traction Company Union Station, this massive brick structure once served as the central hub for the city's horse-drawn and powered trolley network. Its architectural legacy shifted frequently over the last century, moving from a transit terminal to corporate offices, and even functioning as the CIA-linked International Police Academy. It now operates as an academic and administrative facility for Georgetown University, standing as a prominent example of the Romanesque Revival style. Visitors often gather at the building's terrace for its unobstructed vantage of the Potomac River, located right alongside the famous steps featured in The Exorcist.
