Description

Originally established on 42nd Street in 1888, the library relocated to 125th Street in 1915, funded by the sale of the original site. The current Carrere and Hastings-designed structure features a handsome brick and sandstone facade. Inside, the rooms are lined with windows on either side, while portraits and painted bottles sit atop the bookshelves. It serves as a comfortable, air-conditioned spot where locals and students read alongside welcoming staff.
