Gatsby's Party Fills a 1,761-Seat Theatre on 53rd Street
Fitzgerald's Long Island at full scale, with projection walls, a Tony-winning wardrobe, and a green light you see from the back.
The Great Gatsby opened at the Broadway Theatre in April 2024 and is still running. Marc Bruni directs, Kait Kerrigan wrote the book, and Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen wrote the score.
Most of the storytelling here sits in the design. A library turns into a ballroom turns into a dock without the stage ever emptying out. Gold light, beaded fringe, and a mansion wall climbing the full height of the stage carry scenes that a set change would otherwise interrupt. It runs 150 minutes with one intermission.

This listing covers one performance at the Broadway Theatre, taxes and fees included. Seats are assigned as best available at the time you book, and the theatre emails a barcode that you open on your phone at the door.
Performances are on sale through January 3, 2027.

Paul Tate dePoo III designed the scenery and the projections together, and they run as one system. The green light at the end of Daisy's dock gets a full wall of water and night sky to sit in, and it reads clearly from the back rows. He shared the 2024 Outer Critics Circle award for outstanding scenic design.
The Valley of Ashes swings the other way. Soot, a gas pump, a billboard of eyes watching the road. The gap between those two worlds is the production's clearest idea, and it lands visually before anyone sings about it.
The Wardrobe That Won the Tony

Linda Cho won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design in a Musical for this production. The clothes carry class lines that the script only gestures at. Gatsby appears in pale silver and cream. Tom wears heavier, older tailoring. The party crowd moves in beaded green and gold that catches every light cue.
Watch the shirts. Fitzgerald gives a famous scene to a closet of them, and the staging gives that closet a full wall.
The Room It Plays In
The Broadway Theatre opened in 1924 as a movie house and seats 1,761, which puts it among the larger rooms in the district. It is also one of only five theatres that front the street called Broadway.
That width matters here. Wide stage pictures, deep projection, and a cast that spreads across the full opening all want room, and this room has it. The design was built for a space this size. It reads from the far seats as well as the close ones.
Who Is on Stage Now
Broadway casts rotate, and this one rotates often. Ryan McCartan returned as Jay Gatsby on July 27, 2026, his fourth run in the part. China Anne McClain made her Broadway debut as Daisy Buchanan on August 3, 2026. Corbin Bleu plays Nick Carraway, John Behlmann plays Tom Buchanan, Naturi Naughton-Lewis plays Jordan Baker, and Eric Anderson plays Meyer Wolfsheim.
Cast changes go up on the show's official site first. Check it close to your date if a particular performer is the reason you are going.
A few mechanics worth knowing before the night itself.
- Tickets arrive by email as a link from Broadway Inbound, no later than two weeks before the performance.
- The barcode admits one person, one time. Have it open on your phone at the door.
- Guests 18 and over need government-issued photo ID. Under 18 can show a school ID, birth certificate, or social security card.
- Recommended for ages 10 and up. Children under 4 are not admitted.
- All sales are final.
- For accessible seating, call 888-651-9785 before completing the booking.
Latecomers are seated at the management's discretion, and some performances hold you until a pause in the action. Plan to be in your seat before the lights go down. The theatre sits at 53rd and Broadway, a few blocks north of the Times Square crush and an easy walk from the late kitchens of Hell's Kitchen once the curtain comes down.
