Gaslamp Stories Between a Burger and a Baja Fish Taco

A guided walk through San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter with six food stops and the neighborhood's history told on the blocks between.

Secret Food Tours runs this guided walk through San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the downtown district the listing describes for its Victorian and Renaissance architecture. A guide carrying an orange umbrella meets the group on F Street and leads it through six food stops on foot. The operator puts the walking at about 42 minutes in total, with no hills or stairs, and says the guide slows down for anyone who walks slowly. Come hungry. Travelers who took it in 2025 and 2026 describe leaving full, and one suggests skipping breakfast before the 11:00 AM start.

The booking covers the guided walk and six tastings. Adults pay USD 98 from Wednesday to Monday and USD 97.49 on Tuesdays, with youth and child prices five to ten dollars lower. Hotel pickup and the guide's tip are not included.

Two Doors on F Street, Depending on the Day

Most days the group meets at the Gaslamp Lumpia Factory, 423 F Street. On Tuesdays the listing sells a separate route that starts at Mimoza Mediterranean Restaurant, 409 F Street, also on F Street. The listing asks for arrival 15 minutes before the start to check in, and the guide is the one with the orange umbrella. The first sight on the operator's itinerary is the Balboa Theatre on Fourth Avenue. The listing ends the walk at 425 Market Street, and the operator says it finishes in the Gaslamp area.

The Blocks Between the Plates

The listing counts the Gaslamp Quarter itself as a stop, one the group walks through between tastings. Traveler accounts from 2024 to 2026 describe guides pointing out historic buildings and local stories along the way, and a few reviewers wanted more of that history than their guide gave. One traveler in March 2025 wrote that the end point was not far from the start and the walking was easy.

Six Plates, and the Menu Moves

The listing names six tastings: a California burrito, a fish taco, a specialty coffee, a burger, avocado toast and a signature secret dish revealed on the day. The operator's itinerary opens with lumpia, a dish the listing's food list leaves out, and the listing's own stop-by-stop plan ends on ice cream. Both say the itinerary and menu can change with the venues' availability, and two travelers in July and August 2026 ate at two different taco places. Recent accounts most often mention lumpia, a burger, a fish taco, coffee and ice cream.

Diets, Drinks, Access and Time

The listing asks guests to contact the operator before the tour about any dietary requirement, and the operator says some restrictions cannot be accommodated. A vegetarian in one family was looked after at every stop in July 2026, while a traveler in February 2026 found no gluten-free option. Water is the drink on the operator's tasting list, and the legal drinking age is 21. The listing ticks wheelchair access, but its own traveler notes say the tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs or impairments that need special assistance. The listing sells the walk as three and a half hours and the operator's page says three; two travelers in August and September 2026 timed theirs at about two hours and two and a quarter. Keep the listed three and a half hours free; some recent groups finished well inside it.

As of October 16, 2026, the booking calendar mostly showed late-morning starts, 11:00 AM from Wednesday to Monday and 11:30 AM on Tuesdays, with occasional late-afternoon slots. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. Then wear comfortable shoes and arrive hungry for six stops.
