From Shawarma to Brisket Tamales Across Five Uptown Dallas Kitchens
A walking food tour around West Village: nine tastings and a short ride on a historic McKinney Avenue streetcar when one runs.
Uptown Eats! is a walking food tour that also puts you on a streetcar, and the walking comes first. Most of the two and a half hours goes to five restaurants around West Village and McKinney Avenue, where nine tastings add up to what the operator sizes as a full meal with something sweet.
The streetcar ride and the car barn visit both carry the words when available, and the operator says rare mechanical or maintenance problems can cancel either one. Book it for the food. Count the trolley as the part that usually happens.

This listing has one version of the tour and one start time, 1:00 PM. Children have a separate, lower rate. Restaurant tips and water at the stops are covered. The guide's tip, alcohol, and the trip to West Village are not.
Dallas Uptown Foodie Tour + Trolley by Food Tours of AmericaFive Uptown restaurants and nine tastings on foot, with a historic McKinney Avenue streetcar ride when available. About 2.5 hours from a 1:00 PM start.www.viator.comShawarma, Thai Family Recipes and Something Sweet

The operator names the current five on its own tour page. Baboush, where the group meets, serves the Moroccan-Lebanese plates. Velvet Taco brings what it calls Texas-born favorites. Ka Thai serves a custom tasting flight of family recipes from Thailand, made for this tour. San Martín Bakery covers the Guatemalan sweets, and The Rustic closes with Texas comfort food. Dishes it lists along the way include chicken shawarma, Heaven Beef, alfajores, elote and brisket tamales.
Dietary changes need at least 72 hours' notice, with each guest's name and restriction given at booking. Inside that window the operator will try, though substitutions may be limited, may differ from the standard tastings, and can mean fewer of them. It also says the tour may not suit guests with severe food allergies: the stops are independent restaurants whose kitchens it does not control.
Water comes at each restaurant stop. Alcoholic drinks are not part of the ticket. Guests can buy their own at Baboush before the start or at The Rustic at the end; the schedule leaves no time for drink orders in between.
The Streetcar Ride Is the Short Part

The cars belong to the McKinney Avenue Trolley fleet, and the operator stresses they are historic streetcars with no replicas among them. Its stories include Rosie, which it calls the fleet's oldest car and says came all the way from Portugal, and cars that had second lives after leaving the tracks, one as part of a home and another as a family playhouse.
The listing budgets about ten minutes for the ride and ten for the car barn, and one guest in November 2025 wrote that the group was on the trolley for about five. The barn is a working facility that the listing describes as not generally open to the public. The cars are restored and maintained there, and the group gets to meet the trolley team. Both parts run when operationally possible.
Boarding means a few steep steps up and down, and the cars are not wheelchair accessible.
About a Mile on Foot, Rain or Shine
Between stops the tour covers about a mile of Uptown sidewalks, curbs and street crossings, with stretches of standing, and part of it is outdoors. The operator runs it rain or shine. Dress for the forecast and wear shoes made for walking.
Guests with mobility or access needs are asked to contact Food Tours of America before booking, given the walking and the trolley steps. The operator lists the tour for all ages. Families should count the mile and the steep trolley steps into the plan.
Picking a Date
There is one start time, 1:00 PM. The listing's schedule covers Wednesday through Sunday, but as of October 16, 2026, every open date on the booking calendar fell on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This listing stops taking bookings 48 hours before the start.
Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. Inside 24 hours, the payment is not returned.
Late arrivals can still join. The host texts guests on the morning of the tour, and anyone running behind can call or text that number to find the group. Tastings missed on the way cannot be made up later in the tour.
📍 Meet inside Baboush at 3636 McKinney Ave, Suite 160, in West Village, 15 minutes before the 1:00 PM start. The operator uses that time to check everyone in. The listing points to street parking and free public garages in and around West Village and asks guests to check posted signs. Parking fees are not covered by the ticket.
The tour ends at The Rustic on Howell Street, a short walk from Baboush, and guests are welcome to stay on after the last tasting.
