From Savannah's Squares to Bonaventure's Oaks in a Private Car
A private three-hour drive through Savannah's squares and Victorian District, with a stop under Bonaventure's moss-hung oaks.
A guide collects you at your hotel and spends about three hours driving you between Savannah's squares, the Victorian District, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and Bonaventure Cemetery, pulling over wherever you want a photo or a short walk.
The booking is private: two to six travelers, and nobody else in the car. A single traveler cannot book it, and the only ticket sold is for ages 10 and up, which matches the operator's own advice against bringing younger children.
The route bends to the people in the car. One guest in 2026 liked "spending time on what interested us most and skipping what did not." Another group got so caught up in town that they missed the cemetery. If Bonaventure is the reason you booked, say so at pickup.

The listing covers the private ride in an air-conditioned vehicle and bottled water. Gratuities are not included. Pickup is from hotels and lodging within five miles of downtown, and the listing asks you to confirm your pickup spot before the tour.

The listing gives about ninety minutes to the Historic District and the Victorian District. In the historic core you drive through a sampling of Savannah's 22 squares, past homes, churches, inns and museums in the shade of live oaks. In the Victorian District the houses turn late Victorian and Queen Anne.
It is a sampling of the 22 squares, and guests say the guide stops at the ones you name. They describe the guide parking so they could walk a square or get a closer photo. One was struck that a square's statue can honor someone with no link to the square's name, the kind of detail that is easy to miss on your own.
The Cathedral Keeps Its Own Hours

The one indoor stop on the listing is the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, given fifteen minutes. The other churches on the route are seen from the outside. Guests describe walking through the cathedral while the guide waited.
The cathedral is an active church and sets its own touring hours: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM Monday through Saturday, and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Sunday. It closes to touring for funerals, weddings and other religious events. On a Sunday, only the 2:00 PM departure falls inside those hours. No ticket is needed, the cathedral says a small donation of three dollars per adult is appreciated, and it describes itself as handicap accessible, with an elevator on Harris Street.
Bonaventure, Minus the Bird Girl
The listing gives Bonaventure Cemetery thirty minutes and describes it as located on the site of a former plantation and featured in the novel and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The statue from the book's cover will not be there. Telfair Museums says the Bird Girl was removed from the cemetery after the book drew crowds to the family plot, and she has been on loan to the museum since 1997. One guest in 2023 wrote that they would probably have skipped the cemetery had they known.
The draw now is the oak-lined drives and the old monuments. Bonaventure is a city cemetery, open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and storms can shut it. When Hurricane Helene closed it in 2024, one group's guide showed them more of coastal Savannah instead.
Pickup, the Ride and Who It Suits
Pickup is from your hotel or lodging within five miles of downtown Savannah. The operator, DTours, says in its booking notes that the guide gets in touch the day before to confirm, and its own FAQ draws the pickup line wider, at ten miles. Driving in from outside the pickup area, the booking notes say to park at the Liberty Street Parking Garage and meet the guide next door at Savannah Coffee Roasters.
The ride is the guide's own vehicle, and guests have described an SUV and a van. The operator calls the tour mostly driving with some walking, and several guests mention guides slowing the pace for a parent with limited mobility. If anyone in your party uses a wheelchair, ask before booking whether it fits in the vehicle. Animals are not allowed.
📍 The pin marks Bonaventure Cemetery at 330 Bonaventure Road, one stop on the route. There is no meeting point; the tour starts wherever the guide collects you.
The listing refunds in full for cancellations made at least 24 hours before departure, and not after that. The operator says tours run rain or shine and may be rescheduled or refunded in severe weather, and guests who went on rainy days describe staying dry in the car.
One guest wrote that they went back afterward to many of the places they had first passed from the car, and were not disappointed.
