From Lynchburg's Square to a Jack Daniel's Tasting Flight

Seven hours by bus from downtown Nashville: time for lunch on Lynchburg's square, then a guided tour and tasting at Jack Daniel's.

Plan a day trip to Lynchburg for a Jack Daniel's flight.

This is a ticketed public bus tour run by Mint Julep Experiences. It leaves the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville at 10:00 AM and covers about 75 miles to Lynchburg, Tennessee, roughly 90 minutes each way by the operator's count.

The day splits in two. First comes about an hour and a half on Lynchburg's small downtown square, with lunch and shopping on your own. Then the group checks in together at the Jack Daniel's Distillery for a guided tour that ends in a tasting flight. Distillery admission is part of the ticket, and the operator holds the reservation. You are back in Nashville around 5:00 PM.

One booking takes up to 22 travelers, every one of them 21 or older. The calendar never runs on Tuesdays, and booking on this listing closes two days ahead.

Ninety Minutes on Lynchburg's Square

The first stop is Lynchburg's small downtown square. The listing gives you about an hour and a half there for shopping and lunch, and riders split on whether that is enough. One 2024 reviewer had to choose between a quick sandwich and the shops, and a 2025 rider found one hour too short for both on a crowded race day. Riders in 2025 and 2026 said there was plenty of time. Decide before you step off the bus whether the square is for lunch or for shopping.

The listing also promises a complimentary pour at Company Distilling's Lynchburg tasting room, its straight bourbon finished with maple wood, with further tastings at extra cost. Company Distilling's own site lists that room as closed on Mondays, and the listing says the bonus pour is off on Mondays too.

Through the Distillery to the Tasting Flight

At the distillery your Mint Julep guide checks the group in, and riders describe a distillery guide leading the tour itself. The listing puts the tour at about an hour and a half inside a two-hour stop; the operator's own page says the tour and tasting run just under two hours. It ends with a tasting flight. The operator says the pours often include Old No. 7 alongside premium or limited expressions, depending on availability.

Expect walking and stairs. The listing mentions significant outdoor walking, and riders in 2025 and 2026 described ramps, steps along the river and a lot of stairs. The same listing also ticks a box calling the tour suitable for all fitness levels, and the operator's tour page and FAQ say nothing about wheelchair access. The distillery's own tour FAQ says it can arrange reasonable modifications, or an accessible tour experience, for visitors who tell it at the earliest possible time, at (931) 759-6357. Anyone with limited mobility should call the distillery early and also spell out their needs in the booking's special requirements field.

The operator notes that distillery-only bottles are sold at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop even though the distillery sits in a dry county. If you want a bottle engraved, the operator asks you to tell your guide, who will point you to where it is done.

Your Own Cooler Rides Along

You can bring your own drinks for the ride, alcoholic or not, as long as you are 21. The operator caps personal coolers at 12 by 12 or smaller on public tours, and the bus carries its own cooler with ice and bottled water, plus ponchos. There is no restroom on board; riders in 2024 and 2026 both noted it, and one said the driver was willing to stop.

It is a fixed public itinerary, with no custom stops and no personal playlists. The operator says its tour leaders share Tennessee whiskey history for most of the drive, and most of its tours run on 14-passenger or 22-passenger buses. Drinking is optional; the operator says many guests enjoy the day without tasting a drop.

Check In by 9:45 AM at the Omni

Arrive at least 15 minutes early at the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville, 250 5th Ave South, next to Bongo Java Coffee. The tour leader checks you in, hands out wristbands and walks the group to the bus, which leaves at 10:00 AM. Look for the group outside: riders in 2023 and 2024 were met outside the hotel, and one who waited in the lobby by the coffee shop had to go looking. Bring a valid ID; this listing is for adults 21 and over only. Wear closed-toe shoes and casual clothes, and dress for rain or heat, since the listing says the tour operates in all weather conditions. The distillery does not allow backpacks or camera bags on its tours; purses, clutches, fanny packs and wallets are fine, so keep what you carry small.

As of October 2026 the calendar offers Mondays and Thursdays through Sundays, plus some Wednesdays, and never Tuesdays. The distillery lists its visitor center as closed on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The listing blocks most of those days but still sells December 31 and Easter Sunday 2027, and the operator's own calendar has December 31 open too. Pick another date, or ask the operator what the day includes before you book either one. On a Monday the bonus pour in Lynchburg is off.

Booked through this listing, cancelling at least 24 hours ahead brings a full refund, and nothing comes back inside 24 hours, a missed 10:00 AM bus included. The listing lets the operator call the day off for poor weather or too few travelers, and the operator says a weather cancellation is refunded in full. Its terms for bookings made directly with it are stricter. Lunch and tips are on you, and the operator suggests 15 to 20 percent for the guide. Back in Nashville around 5:00 PM, the evening downtown is still ahead.
