From Espresso Cielo to the Pier: Santa Monica on Camera

A photographer meets your group at a 2nd Street café, then spends two morning hours shooting you on the bluff and the pier.

Friendly Local Guides sells this as a private session with a professional photographer: two hours on foot through downtown Santa Monica with a camera pointed at your group. Nobody else joins the booking, whether it holds one traveler or ten.

The listing sketches nine stops at about ten minutes each, among them Tongva Park, Ocean Avenue, Third Street Promenade and the pier, and calls the itinerary customizable. Treat that list as a menu to agree on with the photographer.

What comes back is a set of pictures, sent by email as an online gallery within five days of the shoot. The listing promises 50 or more professionally edited photos and 70 or more pictures for groups of five and up. Another line describes a downloadable folder of 100 to 200 images that includes the 50 edited ones.

The price is per person and drops with each person added; a solo booking carries the highest rate per head.

Travelers under 18 book at a separate child rate.

The First Slot Opens With the Café

Your photographer meets you at the entrance of Espresso Cielo, a coffee and gelato shop at 1431 2nd St. The shop's own site lists a 7:00 AM opening every day of the week, the same minute as the earliest slot.

The calendar offers a start every half hour from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, and nothing later in the day.

As of October 20, 2026, the booking calendar showed all eight morning starts open on every date checked between late October and December.

The Pacific Wheel Only Turns on a Late Start

The listing includes a ride on the Pacific Wheel, the Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the pier. Pacific Park keeps its own hours. Its calendar for October 2026 opens the rides at 11:00 AM on Fridays, Saturdays and most Sundays, at noon Monday through Thursday, and later still on a few special dates.

Monday through Thursday in October 2026, only the 10:30 AM start runs past the wheel's noon opening.

A ride ticket is also absent from the listing's inclusions. Pacific Park sells single rides on the wheel itself.

A Mother and Daughter Who Come Back Each Spring

The clearest picture of this shoot comes from one traveler who has written about it three times. She first booked with her daughter in 2022, wrote again in 2024 when the girl was 15, and in May 2025 called it the fourth year in a row. In April 2026 she praised her photographer's 'great eye for photo details and poses' and said they would be back in spring 2027.

Reviewers since 2022 have named three different photographers, and the listing does not say who will take a given booking.

The listing offers the session in English or Russian.

Refunds, Strollers and Special Requests

Cancel at least 24 hours before your start time for a full refund; after that, the booking is not refundable.

The booking form has a field for special requirements, the place to flag a stroller or a mobility need. The listing says infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, that service animals are allowed, and that the shoot suits all physical fitness levels. Friendly Local Guides lists no page for this shoot on its own website.
