From Freeman Plaza to Highland Park: Trace Three Endings
Begin beside the Holland Tunnel, pause where a parkway changes character at the Hudson, and finish near a roadway's western limit. Three stops turn fast infrastructure into a slower reading of thresholds, water, and neighborhood green space.
Three speed stories stop here
Tunnel threshold
Freeman Plaza North sits beside the Holland Tunnel entrance, where tunnel traffic spills into Hudson Square. The pocket park turns a major crossing into a human-scale threshold. Use the bright benches for a brief reset, then leave before idling traffic overwhelms the pause.

Where lanes change
At Pier I, the Hudson opens beside the 70th Street bike path. A few blocks north, the Henry Hudson Parkway reaches its southern terminus and continues as the West Side Highway. Watch the speed narrative loosen at the water's edge, then stay for the long river view.

Reservoir release
Highland Park rises near Jamaica Avenue, close to the Jackie Robinson Parkway's western end. Leave the roadway behind for the Ridgewood Reservoir loop, ball fields, and skyline glimpses. Finish with trees replacing the merge. The final stop makes the change in pace visible without asking you to stand beside moving lanes.
