Free Art Museum Admission for Up to Four Adults With EBT in Nashville
A former sorting floor now holds the galleries, and the studio upstairs lets families sketch, print and animate side by side.
🖍️ Make Something Upstairs
Upstairs, Martin ArtQuest turns a museum visit into a making session. Stations cover drawing, painting, printmaking, and animation, and the lineup changes three times a year to follow the exhibitions. Current ones include sketching from a posed mannequin, kaleidoscopes for radial symmetry, a puppet theater, and a table for building a small garden. Children 12 and under need an adult beside them in ArtQuest, and the studio keeps the same hours as the galleries.
The Frist occupies Nashville's former main post office, finished in 1934, and the mail sorting rooms became galleries with ceilings fit for oversize canvases. The building's branch post office moved into renovated space on the lower level in November 1999.
Admission is 20 dollars for adults and free for everyone 18 and under. With an EBT, SNAP, or WIC card plus a photo ID, up to four adults enter at no charge. That rate is in person only, and online tickets cannot be refunded. Doors open at 10 a.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at 1 p.m. Sunday, and Thursday closes at 8 p.m. Architecture tours run Saturday and Sunday at 3.30 p.m.
