4.7 (185)museum
The historic home and office where Olmsted and his firm designed thousands of America’s landmark parks and estates.
Description

Fairsted served as the working base for Olmsted, his sons John Charles and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr., and their successor firm as they produced plans for campuses, suburban neighborhoods, and private estates across the country. Established by Congress in 1979, the property pairs serene grounds with an archival collection maintained by the National Park Service to illustrate foundational principles of historic landscape design.
