Description

First established in 1832, the grounds reopened in September 2021 following an overhaul centered on an expanded fountain plaza. Around the water, the updated layout brings conversational seating, enhanced lighting, and a dedicated children’s garden, alongside accessible walkways and a planned restaurant pavilion. Operated by the DowntownDC BID, the space serves as an open downtown gathering point for workers, residents, and visitors looking to walk or unwind.
