Description

Conceived in the 1890s as Boston’s “country park,” the grounds sit at the city’s geographic center, connecting the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, and Roslindale. The acreage gathers a wide range of civic attractions, from the historic Bear Cages and Scarboro Pond to the Franklin Park Zoo and a renowned cross-country running course. Recreation also extends across the William Devine Golf Course, White Stadium, playing fields, the Elma Lewis Playstead, and multiple playgrounds.
