Four Mills Nature Reserve
4.6 (219)park
Shaded trails wind past stepping stones and creek bridges in this 56-acre Ambler woodland, anchored by a historic barn.
Description

Headquartered at the 1891 Four Mills Barn—designed by Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer—the reserve serves as a launch point for two half-mile loop trails along the broader Green Ribbon Trail. Footpaths trace a wooded floodplain where Prophecy Creek, Stuart Farm Creek, and Spring Run join the Wissahickon, leading toward the Rotary Bridge or out to the Rose Rubenstein Stone Crossing. Sycamores, bitternut hickories, and red maples form the canopy above, while dragonflies flock to the water and spring brings wild leek, trout lily, and jack-in-the-pulpit to the forest floor.
