Fort Washington State Park
4.6 (1,336)park
This 493-acre park pairs Revolutionary War history with scenic trails, spring dogwoods, and seasonal raptor watching.
Description

The park takes its name from the temporary fort built by George Washington’s troops in the fall of 1777 before their march to Valley Forge. Today, the eastern Montgomery County grounds center on recreation, with well-maintained trails for hiking, designated picnic spots, and modern facilities. Birders gather at the Observation Deck to catch seasonal raptor flights, though parking and amenities often see heavy weekend crowds.
