Description

Conceived under the Johnson administration for the unrealized Fort Lincoln New Town community, the six-acre park was shaped by M. Paul Friedberg and Associates to interpret its fortification history. Below the outer rim, the sunken center gathers berms, lawn, and rubberized turf. A play area built into the grade references historic battlements with tiered zones for scrambling and sliding, while shaded benches face the moat around the central pyramid. Along the perimeter, permanent board-game tables flank a concrete stair-amphitheater, with ramps linking every level.
