Perched on Milton Hill, this 1833 Greek Revival mansion holds China trade art, Lincoln memorabilia, and harbor views.
Description

Designed by Isaiah Rogers in 1833, the home was an early domestic engineering marvel fitted with central heating and indoor plumbing. Four generations of the Forbes family resided here until 1962, filling the estate with personal traces of their worldly ventures.
Inside, rooms display Chinese export porcelain, furniture, and Victorian accessories alongside artifacts from Captain Robert Bennet Forbes's 1847 humanitarian mission to Ireland and Mary Bowditch Forbes's Civil War collection. Outside, nearly seven acres of open grounds look across the Neponset River marshes toward the Boston skyline.
