Fly Kites Above a Sandy Mission Bay Peninsula

Fly a kite at Mariners Point Park, where a least tern nesting site shares the sandy Mission Bay peninsula.

Bring a kite to the bay.

🪁 Room To Spread Out

Mariners Point Park gives a Mission Bay outing room to stretch. At 3119 Mariners Way, a large sandy peninsula meets wide grassy lawns, with open water taking over the view. Bring a kite and make the sky part of your afternoon, or settle into the grass for a slower start.

The cove has shallow water extending far out, a detail that puts wading and swimming with children on the agenda. A least tern nesting site adds a wildlife dimension to this stretch of the bay. Keep that habitat in mind when choosing where to spend time.

Mariners Basin has boat mooring, and outrigger canoe races bring another way to watch the water. Leave a little space in the outing for watching whatever is happening offshore. Available hours run daily from 4 AM to 10 PM, with the parking lot closing at the same time.
