Floral Library Park
4.8 (100)park
Beside the Tidal Basin, this living library cycles 93 flower beds through Dutch tulips, summer annuals, and autumn mums.
Description

Also known as the Tulip Library, the compact plot along Independence Avenue assigns a different flower variety to each bed. National Park Service gardeners maintain the continuous turnover, lifting spent bulbs so the summer annual display can change each year before autumn chrysanthemums step in. The grounds have run this seasonal rotation since 1969, established under First Lady Lady Bird Johnson’s Capital Beautification Project.
