Description

Surrounded by a heavily urbanized landscape, the canopy is dominated by tuliptree, American beech, and red and white oaks. Since 2017, the grounds have been an active project site under Fairfax County's Helping Our Land Heal initiative. Natural Resource Branch ecologists focus on rebuilding the forest understory structure and lifting biodiversity through mechanical and chemical invasive controls, direct seeding, and deer exclusion.
