Outer Queens Tidal Outlook
At this Howard Beach park, Jamaica Bay sets the scene for a local walk or fishing stop, with a small beach and open space along the water. Shells and mussels grow along the shoreline, while passing A trains rumble on elevated tracks and planes rise from JFK. A playground gives families another reason to linger. Entry is free, and the park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Expect litter and dumped trash in places.
Broad Channel Flight Path
Across from JFK Airport, this Gateway National Recreation Area pocket pairs a rural waterfront with active water access. Fishing and jet skiing start at the Jamaica Bay shoreline, while planes climb overhead. A small playground sits near grassy areas where wild rabbits may appear. The park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and entry is free. Plan around limited facilities. No public restrooms are available on-site.
Locust Point Marina
From a peaceful Bronx cove, boat owners have fast access to the Long Island Sound and East River. The yard has updated docks, bathrooms, and a large lift. The haul-out pit is deep enough for keel boats. Trailer storage and sheltered winter wet slips provide two storage options. A new on-site restaurant adds a stop. Hours run 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday and Sunday, with 9:00 AM opening Tuesday through Saturday.
