Fish Fry, Cheese Curds and Wurst, Starting at Usinger's Door
Downtown Milwaukee on foot: wurst, a fish fry, cheese curds, a taco, ice cream, and one dish kept secret until it's served.
Secret Food Tours runs this walk through downtown Milwaukee for groups of up to twelve. The booking lists six tastings: a Bavarian-style wurst platter, a Great Lakes fish fry, fried cheese curds, a Latin-inspired taco, a small-batch ice cream, and a secret dish the operator keeps as a surprise. The listing times it at 210 minutes; the operator's own page says three to three and a half hours.
That page also gives the order. It opens at a specialty food shop it calls an institution of Wisconsin dairy, where the secret dish comes out, then moves to a German beer hall for the wurst and a Latin spot for the taco. The fish fry and the cheese curds are two stops inside one food market, and the ice cream closes the walk. Both the listing and the operator say the menu can change with each venue's availability and the weather.

The ticket covers the six tastings on a guided walk. Pickup and tips are not included. Drinks are not among the six tastings: the operator lists water, with beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic options sold along the way, and the listing sets the drinking age at 21. Free cancellation runs until 24 hours before the start.

Between tastings the booking names three places on the route: the Bronze Fonz, a public artwork by Gerald P. Sawyer on the Milwaukee Riverwalk; Old World Third Street, which the listing calls the one-time heart of the city's German community; and the Riverwalk itself. All three are listed as places the group walks past without stopping. Several travelers mention their guide pointing out history and landmarks between stops, so the stretches between bites come with some narration.
A Fair Amount of Walking Between Bites

The listing warns of a fair amount of walking and asks for comfortable shoes. It also marks the tour as not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. One traveler in July 2026 put the distance at about four miles. The operator says it keeps the right to cancel in extreme weather, and one traveler did the walk on a cold, snowy day in November 2025.
Two of the Stops Are Inside a Food Market
The operator places the fish fry and the cheese curds at two stops inside one of the city's food markets. Several travelers between 2024 and 2026 describe that part as food-court style, with the food handed out in to-go boxes. One traveler in March 2026 found the market packed on a Saturday and the fried food lukewarm by the time it reached the group. Expect counter service for part of the tasting, and a crowd on weekends. Other travelers name the fish fry and the curds among their favorite bites of the day.
Wheelchairs, Children and Dietary Needs
The listing says the tour cannot accommodate guests with wheelchairs or impairments that need special assistance, even though it also ticks suitable for all physical fitness levels. The operator's own FAQ says many of its tours are not wheelchair or stroller accessible and asks guests to get in touch before booking.
Children can come. The booking has infant, child and youth tickets, an adult has to be on every booking, and the operator says children two and under go free. Dietary needs go to the operator in advance, and its FAQ warns that many of its tours cannot cater to certain restrictions.
📍 The listing puts the meeting spot in front of the entrance of Usinger's Famous Sausage, with the guide waiting under an orange umbrella, and asks guests to arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Travelers in 2024 and 2026 were met there. The operator's own page gives a different address, 215 West Highland Avenue, with the same umbrella, so check the confirmation for the spot your departure uses.
As of October 14, 2026, the small-group tour on the booking calendar mostly starts at 11:00 AM, with a noon slot on some dates. The walk ends on Old World Third Street by the river, with bars and breweries around for anyone who wants to keep the afternoon going.
