An open, self-directed costume session at shared worktables, timed for the last weekend before Halloween.

🎃 What Happens Here
Make Fun Studio, a costume and fabrication studio in East Williamsburg, is opening its second-floor workroom for three emergency costume sessions in the final stretch before Halloween. These are open, self-directed sessions. People bring the build they are stuck on, a seam that will not close or an idea that grew too big to finish, and work through it alongside other makers at the same tables, trading a second set of eyes. The studio store stays open during the sessions for trims, odd findings, and last finishing pieces.

🧵 At the Worktables
The room is a bright loft with long white tables, dress forms, and a wall of thread spools. The studio's shared kit includes sewing machines, from home Singers to industrial sergers, plus scissors, glue guns, and some fabric, trim, and notions. Everyone works on their own piece, and people trade fixes as they go, from scaling down an elaborate concept to rebuilding a look around clothes already at home. Everything stays indoors, an easy plan for a chilly late-October day.

📍 Booking and Getting There
Bring the half-finished costume along with the fabric and trims planned for it. Sessions run Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, plus Thursday, October 29 from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The studio is on the second floor of 347 Maujer Street, a short walk from the Grand Street stop on the L. Registration is through the studio's event page, and the listing asks for a pay-what-you-can contribution of 25 to 55 dollars on a sliding scale. Nobody at the tables builds a costume on anyone's behalf.
