Everything Bagel to Red Velvet Cupcake Across Greenwich Village

A six-stop eating walk through Greenwich Village, routed past the doorways that television made famous.

Taste from bagel to cupcake across Greenwich Village.

The walk starts outside a bagel counter on University Place and ends with a cupcake on Bleecker Street, a fair summary of how Greenwich Village eats. Four more tastings come in between, along with a cobblestone mews whose north row was built as horse stables and a crossing of Washington Square Park. The guiding is in English and the route runs about a mile and a half, with stops often enough that the distance never becomes the point.

Tasty Tours caps the group at twelve on its own site, the booking page allows fifteen, and guests describe anywhere from three to thirteen — the number that decides whether you can hear anyone inside a narrow shop.

The walk runs two and a half hours and goes ahead in rain. Booking closes two hours before departure, and confirmation comes back immediately. Everyone on the booking counts as a guest and needs a ticket, infants included; every person is served at every stop.

What You Actually Eat, and the One Swap

Six tastings, each at a different independent shop. An everything bagel with whipped cream cheese opens the walk. Then falafel with tahini, a thin slice called the Nonna Maria, a street taco, a Sicilian arancini ball with marinara, and a mini red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing to close. Bottled water is included. Beer and wine are not, though one stop sells them.

On Monday departures and Sunday afternoons the arancini becomes a cannoli, and the booking page extends that caveat to evening departures too.

Three Doorways You Will Recognize

The route passes 23 Cornelia Street, the stoop that stood in for Carrie Bradshaw's apartment, and the corner building that played the exterior of the Friends apartment. Taylor Swift rented the Cornelia Street house for a few months in 2016 while her own apartment was being renovated, and the street gave one of her 2019 songs its title.

All three are private residences and the group stays on the sidewalk. These are photo stops, not visits.

The guide also slows at the Comedy Cellar and crosses Washington Square Park, where the arch and the fountain do most of the work.

Who This Tour Will Not Suit

Vegetarians can be accommodated with substitutions at several stops, provided you flag it at booking and not on the day. The booking page lists gluten-free and vegan among the diets it cannot serve, yet guests who flagged either one in advance describe being fed at every stop — ask before you book rather than reading that line as final.

The operator's terms ask guests to manage a moderate walking pace over public sidewalks, uneven terrain and stairs, and state plainly that some venues on the route are not fully accessible. Mobility and accessibility requests need forty-eight hours' notice. Service animals are welcome.

Where It Starts and Where It Leaves You

The group gathers outside Bagel Bob's at 51 University Place and breaks up at Molly's Cupcakes on Bleecker Street. Nothing in between needs the subway; the whole route is walked. The guide hands out directions at the end, which earns its keep — you finish in the middle of the Village, not back at the start.

Cancel more than twenty-four hours ahead for a full refund. The tour runs in all weather, and the operator reschedules or refunds only when conditions turn unsafe. Gratuities are not included.

Guests who have walked it through heavy rain point out that all but one of the tastings happen indoors, which is what makes the rain-or-shine line survivable.
