Essig Museum of Entomology Research
4.9 (16)museum
A UC Berkeley research hub housing over 5 million arthropods, focused on insects from California and the Pacific Rim.
Description

The holdings began over a century ago as a humble teaching collection before expanding rapidly under the California Insect Survey beginning in 1939. Today, active research projects continue to build on Western Hemisphere specimens, with specialized regional documentation extending through Mexico, Central America, and the islands of the central Pacific to form one of the continent's major university collections.
