Essex Park
3.5 (26)park
A snug Grand Crossing pocket park with swings, slides, and an easygoing patch of green for neighborhood families.
Description

Acquired by the Chicago Park District in 1974 with backing from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the 0.46-acre parcel was named in 1998 for a nearby 19th-century settlement that looked to Essex, England. Set in the Grand Crossing and South Shore area, the grounds give families a dedicated outdoor stop centered on a playground outfitted with climbing equipment alongside traditional swings and slides.
