4.6 (62)attraction
The only surviving Spanish-built dam in the U.S., still diverting water into an active 18th-century acequia.
Description

Franciscan priests and mission inhabitants built the dam along the San Antonio River between 1731 and 1745. Designed to feed a three-mile-long acequia, it continues to channel water to irrigate 400 acres of land before flowing back into the river.
