Description

Built in 1979 by neighborhood residents and the city, the slides run alongside the Esmeralda street stairs leading up to Bernal Heights Park. Community volunteer labor stepped in to save them from dismantling in 1997–98, preserving a pocket park that remains a draw for both adults and children. Sliders rely on provided or brought cardboard pieces to amp up their speed down the slope.
