The park took shape across several decades after the City of San Diego acquired the land in 1940, opening its recreation building in 1964, adding a senior center in 1966, and completing dedicated ball fields in 1986. Inside the recreation building, facilities include a large indoor basketball court, a craft room, a kitchen, and meeting space for up to 88 people, while the outdoor grounds feature a dedicated tot lot.
