Carried forward by her daughters and extended family, the kitchen takes its character from the open-door hospitality of matriarch Momma Emma Thomas. Emma famously welcomed in hungry strangers who paused by her home just to savor the cooking aromas. While her husband Albert Sr. was a vegetarian, Emma was an unabashed meat lover whose Southern kitchen roots and motto—'Do something with your life!'—continue to shape the cooking across generations.
