Description
Set within the Smithsonian's National Zoo, the habitat combines indoor and outdoor viewing areas where visitors can observe multi-generational herds up close with interactive stations exploring elephant biology. It also doubles as an active field site: scientists from the Zoo and the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute conduct research here into elephant reproduction, genetics, migration, and elephant endotheliotropic virus (EEHV).
