El Museo del Barrio

The museum spans Latino culture in the Americas from the pre-Columbian era to modern times. The experience is highly contained, consisting of two exhibition spaces that take about 30 to 45 minutes to tour. Rather than focusing on local East Harlem history, the galleries showcase a mix of recently acquired pieces. The historic theater hall—frequently noted for its beauty—is kept closed to general museum-goers, opening only for presentations.
