A Miami Parasailing Flight on a 90-Minute Boat Trip

Take an eight-minute parasail flight from Miami Beach Marina, launched and landed from the boat while the captain chooses ocean or bay.

Plan a parasail flight from Miami Beach Marina.

Parasailing advertises itself with a photograph of someone hanging under a canopy. The thing you book is mostly a boat ride. Air time runs eight to ten minutes inside a ninety-minute trip. A winch boat leaves Miami Beach Marina, works its way out past the channel, and sends passengers up in ones, twos and threes while everyone else sits on deck and watches. The operator caps each trip at twelve passengers and points to a Coast Guard limit for that number.

Flights run seven days a week out of the marina at 390 Alton Road, with five departures between 10:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon. Confirmation is immediate, and the booking window closes six hours before the boat leaves.

The Captain Picks the Water on the Day

Two stretches of water are in play. Calm ocean means flying in front of South Beach; rough ocean sends the boat into Biscayne Bay in front of downtown Miami instead. That call belongs to the captain and gets made on the day, not at booking. The same person decides whether you go up alone, as a pair or as a three, weighing wind, sea state and the combined weight of the group. Conditions shift between the first departure and the last, and the limits move with them.

Weight Does More Work Than You Expect

The reservation form asks your weight, and the number decides things. Combined weight for one flight has to clear 150 pounds and stay under 500. A light solo flyer can sit under the floor. Two larger adults can go over the ceiling. The operator states those limits move during the day with wind and water, and that the captain sets them at flight time. It also asks for at least two passengers per flight and treats a solo reservation as cancellable, while this listing will still sell a single seat. Minimum age is six, and anyone under eighteen needs a parent or guardian signature.

You Come Back Dry Unless You Ask for the Dip

Takeoff and landing both happen on the stern of the boat, from a seated position, with crew on either side. Getting wet is a request, not a stage of the ride: the dip comes at the end, and the captain slows the boat until you skim the surface. Anyone who wants to stay dry says so and steps back onto the deck the way they left it. A towel is worth having on board for the dip. Sunglasses that grip, footwear that comes off easily and sunscreen for reapplication all earn their place across ninety minutes of open sun.

What the Ticket Does Not Cover

The fare you pay online is not the whole number at the dock. A seven percent tax is collected at check-in, on top of what you already paid. Photographs are a separate purchase: the crew shoots fifty to sixty frames on a DSLR and sells the set at USD 45 for the whole group. Gratuity sits outside the ticket, and the operator recommends ten to twenty-five percent without requiring it. Bottled water, the safety equipment and the boat ride are included.

Drive or ride to 300 Alton Road, which is the address for drop-off and the garage. Check in at the office at 390 Alton Road, Suite A, in front of Pier A and across from the jet ski counter, thirty minutes ahead of your departure time. The operator's own pages put the boats at Pier E, behind Monty's.

  • Parking is the public garage on the north side of Monty's and Texas de Brazil, paid through the PayByPhone app. Spaces marked for marina decal, restaurant or management are off limits.
  • Weekend parking fills early, and the operator points to 550 Lenox Avenue as the fallback.
  • Cancelling twenty-four hours ahead returns the full fare. Weather cancellations are called by the operator and refunded in full.
  • Pregnancy, back or neck trouble and heart conditions are each listed as reasons the crew will not board you.

The last boat pushes off at 4:30 in the afternoon and is back ninety minutes later, with Ocean Drive and the beaches a five-minute drive from the marina.
