Astoria Ecuadorian Cooking With a Bubbling Stone Pot Casserole
Start with bolon and muchines, add encebollado or ceviche, and stay late on weekends for live music or DJs.
🍲 A Stone Pot Supper
Barzola Restaurant has been feeding Astoria on Broadway for decades, with an expansive menu of Ecuadorian and Colombian comfort food. Start with savory bolón and muchines, then look toward the coastal dishes when seafood is calling. Encebollado de pescado brings fish stew to the table, while fresh ceviche gives you another direction.
The kitchen also serves seco de gallina and a crispy chicken cutlet with rice and lentils. Its fish and shrimp casserole arrives bubbling hot in a heavy stone pot, a standout that keeps the focus on the cooking. The dining room feels warm and unpretentious, with the pace picking up on weekends when occasional live music or DJs turn dinner into a social gathering.
Doors open daily at 8 AM and close at 10 PM Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday service running until 1 AM the following day.
