Ecological Management Site North Branch Restoration Project
4.6 (7)park
A rich North Branch sanctuary where rare flatwoods, open savanna, and floodplain forest unfold around each bend.
Description

Across this compact section of Bunker Hill, oak woodlands meet the savanna, keeping the landscape varied in close quarters. The savanna shifts throughout the growing season as native grasses and wildflowers bloom, including blazing star, prairie sundrops, and fringed gentian alongside big bluestem and mountain blue-eyed grass. The grounds also feature popular picnic groves and natural play areas for kids, integrated directly into the wider North Branch Trail System.
