Description

This 27-acre preserve forms the naturalistic stream-valley portion of the historic Dumbarton Oaks estate. Developed between 1926 and 1941 by Beatrix Farrand—America's first female landscape architect—the grounds showcase a wild-garden landscape design that turned the rugged terrain into sweeping meadows of wildflowers alongside native woodland.
