Brooklyn Drag, Falafel and Queer Bookshops
Plan an evening around drag and live performance at Purgatory, with daytime stops for falafel on Marion Street and queer books on Irving Avenue in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn Drag, Falafel and Queer Books
Purgatory on Central Avenue
Purgatory pairs downstairs couches and CRT TVs with an upstairs stage for live music and drag. The Bushwick bar is women- and queer-owned. Outdoor seating offers another place to sit. Entry is restricted to guests 21 and older. Daily hours run from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Check the event calendar before choosing a night. Ground floor facilities are accessible. Confirm upstairs access before planning to attend a performance.

Pita Point on Marion Street
Daytime hours shape a visit to Pita Point, a family-run kosher deli serving made-to-order falafel in hot pita with homemade dips and pickled vegetables. Monday and Tuesday hours are 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Wednesday and Thursday run from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Friday hours are 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Sunday runs from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Pita Point is closed on Saturday.

Hive Mind Books on Irving Avenue
Hive Mind Books & Coffee Shop gives queer literature and popular titles a bright setting with specialty drinks, seasonal lattes, iced teas, and pastries. The selection is small, with book ordering available for titles beyond the shelves. Tables welcome reading or work without purchase pressure. Seating for lingering is limited. Tuesday through Friday hours run until 7:00 PM, while Monday and weekends close at 6:00 PM. Community events add another reason to check the calendar.
