Domino Park: Sunset From the Elevated Walkway, Then Dinner
Sunset from the Elevated Walkway on 21 sugar-refinery columns, then a pint and dinner within three blocks. Free, and the whole loop is under a mile.
Three stops along the Williamsburg shore
🌇 Sunset from the Elevated Walkway
Come in at the Grand Street gate around 4 PM. The two 80-foot gantry cranes at this north end unloaded raw cane from freighters, and they are a separate structure from the columns you are about to walk on. The Elevated Walkway starts here and runs south to the platform above Tacocina, held up by 21 columns kept from the Raw Sugar Warehouse. Be on it by 4:30. The deck looks west across the river to the Manhattan skyline, and in early November the sun drops behind it around 4:50 PM, about 4:30 by early December. Free, open 6 AM to 11 PM daily.

🍺 A pint once the light goes
Other Half's taproom is at 34 River Street, two minutes from the Grand Street gate, and the obvious next move after 5 PM once the light is gone. Draft beer, wine and a short list of draft cocktails; no food is served, but you can bring your own in, and Roberta's and Tacocina are a block away. Hours: noon to 10 PM Monday to Thursday, noon to 11 PM Friday, 11 AM to 11 PM Saturday, 11 AM to 9 PM Sunday. A small patio sits across the street.

🌵 Dinner after 6 on Kent Avenue
From 6 PM the dinner stop is The Cactus Shop at 231 Kent Avenue, two minutes from Other Half, with Mexican cooking behind a secret door, tequila and mezcal cocktails and elevated street food. Book a table before you go. A portion of the tables and all bar seats are kept for walk-ins each night, but they can be gone by the time you arrive. Open Tuesday and Wednesday 5 to 11 PM, Thursday 5 PM to midnight, Friday 2 PM to 1 AM, Saturday noon to 1 AM, Sunday noon to 10 PM, closed Mondays, when the route ends at Other Half.
