Dominican Chimi Sandwiches From a Tiny Manhattan Counter

Pair longaniza con batata frita with fresh cereza juice at a narrow storefront built around takeout.

Plan a Chimi Luisa stop.

🥪 Chimis and Fried Bites

Chimi Luisa takes the Dominican street food route at 1351 St Nicholas Avenue in Manhattan. The storefront is narrow, the counter seating is limited, and the smell of frying meats greets you inside. Plan around takeout here, rather than settling in for a long seated meal. Chicken and beef chimis give you two versions of the sandwich to choose between before exploring the rest of the menu.

Beyond that starting point, the menu stretches into tostones and fried yuca, with longaniza con batata frita bringing sausage and crispy sweet potato into the mix. Quipes and bolas de yuca offer another pair of street snacks to consider. Fresh cereza juice rounds out the food with a drink of its own.

The doors open at 4 PM every day, with closing at midnight Monday through Wednesday and 2 AM Thursday through Sunday.
