Dictionary Hill Open Space Preserve
4.6 (49)park
This 175-acre coastal sage preserve climbs to 360-degree San Diego views and a rare butterfly habitat at the summit.
Description

The 2.1-mile trail traverses chaparral habitat to an elevation of 565 feet, offering a moderate hike that takes one to two hours to complete. Acquired in 2018 under the County's Multiple Species Conservation Program to safeguard sensitive wildlife, the preserve is home to the threatened California gnatcatcher, alongside resident Bewick's wrens and migrating sparrows. Overhead, Cooper's hawks and kestrels are among the birds spotted circumnavigating the hill.
