Denver's Old Red-Light Blocks, Told Without the Family Filter

A late walk from Union Station through Denver's former red-light district, with the darker history left in.

Ghost City Tours of Denver runs this walk as the darker sibling of its all-ages ghost tour. The listing promises Denver's former red-light district and a history of vice and death, told with mature topics and language. Adults-only here means 16 and up. The booking page sells one ticket band for ages 16 to 99, and the operator's own page sets the same floor. By the operator's count the route covers about a mile in roughly 90 minutes, with chances to sit along the way.

The card below books the 9:00 PM departure. Tickets are priced per person, one booking takes up to ten travelers, and the listing asks groups of ten or more to contact the operator's group sales coordinator.

The Route the Booking Page Lists

The booking page names six stops: Union Station, the Crawford Hotel inside it, the old cold-storage building on Wynkoop Street with ICE HOUSE painted across its brick, the Denver City Cable Railway building, the Equitable Building, and the Byron White U.S. Courthouse. The listing bills the Wynkoop building as the largest cold storage in the Rocky Mountain region. The talk runs from the gold rush of 1858 to the silver crash of 1893, by way of Denver's first railroad station and a New York insurance company that looked west to grow.

The Operator's Page Names Different Stops

The operator's own page features a different set: the Navarre Building, the Brown Palace Hotel, the Equitable Building, and the Oxford Hotel. The Equitable Building is the one stop named on both lists, and both start in front of Union Station. The operator also says not all stops are guaranteed on all nights. Expect the stories from the sidewalk. A July 2026 review expected visits inside some buildings, and the operator's reply says its walking tours tell the stories from the streets and outside the buildings, without going in.

Look for the Flagpole on the Wynkoop Street Side

The listing sets the meeting point at the flagpole directly in front of the Union Station building, on the Wynkoop Street side. Go by the flagpole. A September 2026 review describes a group circling the station after a confirmation email pictured a doorway marked Equitable Building, and missing that night's walk. That building is a stop on the route. The start is the flagpole. The operator asks guests to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and suggests a rideshare or pedicab, adding that nearby parking works for those who leave early enough. The listing notes public transportation nearby.

Equal Parts History, Plus a Few House Rules

Expect about as much Denver history as ghost story. The operator's page puts the mix at 45 percent history and 45 percent paranormal, and a four-star review from July 2026 praised the guide's extra history while wishing for more stories. The walk runs rain or shine, and the operator does not allow guests to bring alcoholic drinks. Gratuities are not included. The listing and the operator both mark the tour wheelchair accessible, and the operator describes a moderate pace through dimly lit historic areas. The listing allows service animals, and the operator's page calls this a pet-friendly tour for well-behaved pets on leashes.

The listing sells the 9:00 PM start every night through November 28, 2026. As of October 20, 2026, the operator's own booking calendar stops at November 9, and its FAQ describes the season as March through early November. Pick a night on or before November 9. Booked through this listing, the ticket refunds in full when cancelled at least 24 hours before the start, and not after. The listing also lets the operator cancel for bad weather or too few travelers, and a late-September review describes a guide calling it off at the flagpole after a 25-minute wait. The operator puts the finish around 10:30 PM, late enough for the old red-light blocks to look the part.
