Denver's Darker History, Told Mostly Indoors Around Union Station

A research-heavy LoDo ghost walk whose usual stops include rooms inside Union Station and the Oxford Hotel.

The operator calls this a storytelling presentation, and the description fits. Murders, scandals and the seedy characters who once called LoDo's bars and brothels home carry the evening, with the ghosts threaded through the history. The operator's own terms say over half the tour is spent inside its locations, and the booking page adds that getting inside is always attempted but not always guaranteed. Travelers describe several rooms in the basement of Union Station and spaces beneath the Oxford Hotel. The route varies from night to night, which the listing says outright.

As of October 21, 2026, the booking calendar runs through Halloween, with 7:00 PM starts and an extra 5:00 PM start on October 31. The operator says it releases dates month to month.

Union Station Often Gets the Longest Stretch

The booking page gives Union Station the first 30 minutes, then three short outside stops and a half hour in a historic hotel. Travelers describe something looser. One wrote in September 2026 that the group spent the first hour moving through the station, including several basement rooms. Another, in July 2026, said the group stayed about an hour and a half and missed most of the listed stops. The operator replied that the posted itinerary is where the tour normally goes, and that questions or activity on its equipment can keep the group in one place longer. Book it for the stories and the buildings, and treat the stop list as an outline.

Between the Station and the Oxford Hotel

Outside, the listing names three short stops: the building that held the Tattered Cover bookstore on 16th Street, the old Wazee Supper Club building that now houses A5 Steakhouse, and the Sugar Building. The last listed stop is the Oxford Hotel.

PG-13 Stories, Stairs and a Lot of Standing

The listing sells a child ticket from age 5 at the adult price. The operator rates the tour PG-13, and its terms say the stories cover deaths and suicide without being graphic. Children have to stay with a responsible adult. Walking is light and standing is constant. One traveler in September 2026 called it a little walking and nothing strenuous, and another in August 2026 flagged some stair climbing. The listing ticks wheelchair accessible for all areas and surfaces, while the operator's terms warn of stairs and narrow, steep or uneven corridors. Wheelchair users should plan around the operator's terms.

Budget Past Two Hours, and Park in a Garage

Check-in opens 15 minutes before the start, and the listing says check-in plus the tour usually runs longer than two hours. Street meters nearby only last two hours, and the operator points drivers to the garages and lots instead. The tour goes out in cold weather and light rain. Heavy rain, snow, hail or lightning can cancel it; the operator makes that call on the day and phones at least two hours before the start. Gratuities are not included, and guides accept cash tips.

📍 The meeting point is the base of the flagpole in front of Union Station, at 17th and Wynkoop, on the side away from the trains. Arrive 15 minutes early; guides carry no money and cannot take bookings at the flagpole. One booking covers up to 15 travelers, and cancelling at least 24 hours ahead brings a full refund. The blocks around the station are full of bars and places to eat for afterward.
