DC's Go-Go Music Meets Ballet in a 50th-Season Premiere
The 50th-season program sets a new Chanel DaSilva work to Black Alley's live go-go beside three company classics at the Warner.
🩰 The Season Opener
🎶 Go-Go on a Ballet Stage
Chanel DaSilva's An Artist's Prayer is the new piece, and its score is live. Black Alley, a DC go-go band, plays onstage with the dancers, and the ensemble also moves out into the auditorium. Edwaard Liang calls go-go very interactive, especially the call-outs. The rest of the bill is Choo San Goh's Configurations, Liang's The Art of War, and Trey McIntyre's Blue Until June, set to Etta James recordings.
