David C. Driskell Community Park
4.6 (431)park
Hyattsville’s 32-acre park pairs sports courts and trails with a courtyard honoring Muppets creator Jim Henson.
Description

Renamed in 2021, the park honors former Hyattsville resident David C. Driskell, a preeminent artist, curator, and scholar of African American art. Its dedicated courtyard links to Jim Henson, who developed early prototypes of the Muppets while attending local Northwestern High School. Across the grounds at 40th Avenue and Hamilton Street, amenities include a recreation center, pavilions, playgrounds, and playing fields, alongside biking paths and combination tennis & pickleball courts.
