Dan & Louis Oyster Bar

4.5 (1,508)restaurant

A five-generation Portland fixture serving fresh oysters and clam chowder in a dining room lined with family relics.

Description

Louis C. Wachsmuth opened the doors in 1907, establishing an oyster bar that has operated for more than 119 years. Alongside signature oysters praised for arriving clean and free of shell debris, the kitchen turns out dishes like freshly prepared fried smoked salmon and fish tacos alongside cocktails and local brew. The dining room remains intimate and relaxed, surrounded by more than a century of family treasures displayed across the walls.
