Cypress Street Playground
4.4 (98)park
One of the nation's first municipal playgrounds, this Brookline park pairs a spray pool and play area with busy sports fields.
Description

A long, 5.22-acre corridor bordered by neighborhood homes, the high school, and the Kirrane Aquatic Center, the park steps down toward Cypress Street. The lower end of the slope holds the play area, while a basketball court and bleachers frame the broad multipurpose field. That turf is used extensively for high school sports, adult leagues, and youth sports, keeping the grounds active across seasons. Town-acquired in 1871 alongside the Brookline Avenue Playground, the site still functions as a workhorse community athletic green.
