🤝 Culture Lab LIC: Start Here

Pasar Malam is one event inside Culture Lab LIC, not a crawl across separate venues. The nonprofit occupies a 12,000-square-foot converted waterfront warehouse on the Anable Basin, formerly Plaxall Gallery, a short walk from the 7 train at Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave. Food vendors, live music, and outdoor space all belong to the same place.

🍜 Food Vendors: Order First

The first plate matters more than surveying every stall. Pasar Malam means "night market" in Indonesian and centers Indonesian street food from local vendors. The lineup changes each edition, which makes a single order the cleanest way in. The performance does the social work here. Culture Lab pairs its galleries with a 90-seat theatre and a courtyard stage, giving the music a clear place to gather around. Move toward the sound when you want more energy, or stay at the edge and watch first.

More Rooms to Walk Into

The ease of showing up alone does not end at Culture Lab. The places below are the same kind of low-pressure room, worth a look when you want another night out on your own.
