Cow Hoof Rock
4.7 (88)attraction
A rugged landmark on the River Trail in Great Falls Park, rewarding scramblers with cliffside views over Mather Gorge.
Description

Along a stretch where cliffs rise 25 to 75 feet above the Potomac River, the trail crosses uneven, rocky terrain. Scrambling becomes particularly hands-on through the section from Canal Cut, where lichen, sand, and grit along the cliff edges make for treacherous footing in wet weather.
